Meet our "Foot" Soldiers
The WalkCT program, like all efforts here at the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), relies on a network of great volunteers to carry out our mission. This month we feature Lynn Kochiss, who wears three hats (at least!) as a PLT (Project Learning Tree) educator, WalkCT Family Guide, and Volunteer Coordinator for CFPA.
I recently spoke to Lynn about what inspired her to give her time to the organization, and particularly what she enjoys about being a WalkCT Family Guide.
“I connected with CFPA when I took the PLT training. I was looking for more ideas that would help my students discover ways to help our planet and foster a love of nature. I use the lessons in my classroom. It was a natural step to then join the Family Rambles Guides and lead nature walks.
I have always loved the outdoors, ever since my Girl Scout days. I even live in a home in the woods to experience bird and animal sightings right in my backyard. WalkCT Family Rambles and other CFPA programs give me a chance to enjoy the outdoors, meet people who love nature, and teach young people that the idea of "No Person Left Inside" means we can all work together for ourselves and the planet. Volunteering for CFPA is a pleasure, not a chore, because it connects me to what I love to do. As the Volunteer Coordinator, I hope to connect others to this great team experience.”
Join Lynn on a fun-filled letterboxing WalkCT Family Ramble on July 31st. Click here for details.
